The orange nectar bat (Lonchophylla robusta) is a species of bat found in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. They have a unique tongue physiology that forces nectar up into the mouth by pulling liquid against gravity using both capillary action and muscle force. One food source that the orange nectar bat absolutely loves no matter what is Werauhia gladioliflora, a type of bromeliad.

This illustration was created as part of a 30-day art challenge, and each print is linked with a song. For this print, it's “When U Love Somebody” by Fruit Bats. ⁣(
