UN Global Call Out to Creatives, 2020

2020 was an unprecedented year. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UN held an open call and asked artists of all disciplines to help communicate important and unifying messages to help combat the spread of COVID-19 and unite the world during the pandemic.

Of the six prompts provided by the UN, I chose “Do More, Donate”. One thing that we have during any time of crisis is the power to be kind — to ourselves and others. Folks around the world have been inspired by small acts of kindness and many of these acts stem from people giving, whether it be their talents, time, or tangible donations. ⁣

Viral videos created in 2020 showed communities singing together, much like the sparrow. Folks made sure essentials were being met by donating to food shelves or dropping off groceries to family, friends, and neighbors. Communities delivered flowers and notes of encouragement to each other, and many gave their time to listen and commiserate.

My message of giving has been created for English, Spanish, French, and Japanese audiences. I am eternally grateful to the knowledgeable folks who helped me with the translations for this project. I would love to continue translating this message of giving into other languages, so please reach out if you can help.
